Trap-Neuter-Return Program
Feral cats in our community represent a unique challenge and cat overpopulation has become a serious concern. On average, only 2 percent of feral and stray cats have been spayed or neutered. These cats produce around 80 percent of the kittens born in the U.S. each year. If you know of any stray or feral cats in your neighborhood, please make sure they are sterilized by taking advantage of The Humane Society of Yates County’s (HSYC’s) Trap-Neuter-Return Program. All spay/neuter procedures are performed by a licensed veterinarian utilizing general anesthesia. Cats usually recover quickly and not require follow-up care.
Program Requirements:
Program fee as of 12/2024 is $20.
Each cat should be dropped off at HSYC in a trap. Traps may be borrowed from HSYC with a $20 deposit returned after the trap is returned to HSYC.
